The Pantheon was the temple of all Gods. In the 7th century AD the emperor Foca donated the Temple to the Pope who dedicated it to the virgin Mary. The temple was then transformed into the church of Santa Maria dei Martiri. It is the last exemple of a pagan temple transformed into a chruch.
