Palazzo Zuccari - Rome

Near the spanish steps in Piazza Trinità dei Monti the Zuccari palace is a jewel of the mannerist style.

Palazzo Zuccari is a 16th century palace built by the Zuccari brothers. The peculiarity of the palace are the architectural elements representing infernal mouths and monsters. Perhaps Federico Zuccari was inspired by the Park of the Monsters of Bomarzo. Since 1912 the palace hosts the Bibliotecha Hertziana.

During the 17th and 18th century the palace as well as the area of the Spanish Steps was full of artists from all over the world. Several artists used to meet here for example at the famous Caffè del Greco or at Babyngton's Tea House. Today it's possible to visit the Keats and Shelley's memorial House.
